According to CNN at least 8 people were killed and 90 others were wounded by a three wheeled taxi full of explosives that collided with a bus in Colombo, Sri Lanka earlier today. Police riot squads who were operating in the area, near the presidential secretariat were the principal victims of the attack. The Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), a breakaway faction of the Tamil Tiger rebels, had contested the first elections since the army recaptured the Eastern Province in July with the government party (CNN).
