Morocco : Three French nationals charged for illegal possession of arms

Three French nationals arrested at the Marrakech airport (southern Morocco) with guns, cartridges and undeclared euros were charged at the Rabat military court on Thursday, a judicial source said. French-Egyptian Hassan Daoud Youssef and two French-Algerian nationals – Saadna El Houari and Jamal Mhadji – are accused of “illegal possession of guns and ammunition”, “possession of foreign currency with dubious origin not reported to the customs” and “money laundering”. Youssef, 24 years, was arrested on 6 May at the Marrakech airport with a gun and 10 cartridges concealed in his luggage, while El Houari and Mhadji were arrested with an undeclared 37,000 euros, according to the same source. In Morocco, civilians arrested with illegal firearms and ammunition are tried in a military court.
