Oscar Pistorius, a double amputee also known as Blade Runner because of the blades he uses to run will be allowed to compete with other able-bodied athletes during the 2008 Summer Olympics according to The New York Times. The athlete was barred from able-bodied competitions earlier this year because authorities considered that the technology he used gave him an advantage over other able-bodied athletes. The decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport overrules the earlier ban. Pistorius, a South African, was born without the fibula in his lower legs and with defects in his feet. His legs were amputated below the knee when he was 11 months old. He has set Paralympic world records in the 100, 200, and 400 meters (NYT).
