The Nigerian Army has confirmed that 45 soldiers, including one officer, died Wednesday in a road crash along the Bauchi-Potiskum road in Northern Nigeria. Army Spokesman, Brigadier-General Emeka Onwuamaegbu, confirmed the toll Thursday. He said the Army Chief, Lt.-General Luka Yusuf, had already gone to Bauchi where the bodies of the soldiers were taken. He said the victims had just returned from Darfur, Sudan, and were heading for their base in Potiskum when the crash occured.
