Australia on Friday beat Ghana 1- 0 in their international friendly match played in Sydney. Winger Mile Sterjovkski’s goal one minute into the second half was enough to give the Aussies victory. The Ghanaians missing several key players, including Michael Essien, Suley Muntari and skipper Stephen Appiah, put up a good performance but failed to find the net. Both countries used the match to prepare for qualifying round matches in June for the 2010 World Cup. In the case of Ghana, the matches would also be used as qualifiers for the 2010 African Cup of Nations competition.
