No fewer than 3,079 prisoners have been granted amnesty to mark the 39th anniversary of the 1 September revolution in Libya, the justice ministry said. In a press statement issued here Wednesday, the ministry said the prisoners were made up of 2,017 Libyans, 1,062 other nationals, including Africans, Arab, and Europeans. According to the ministry, the benefitting prisoners were those serving light sentences, those who have already served half of their terms and those who showed good behaviour during their imprisonment.
