Ghana has dropped a place from the 19th to the 20th spot in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking released Wednesday. But the Black Stars remain the second best African team behind Cameroon, who are 14th on the log. The ranking shows that Ghana has not made any considerable progress since last month. The Black Stars now sit at the 20th position on the world ranking standings with an accumulated points’ build up of 864. Though the The Black Stars lost 28 points from August, they still managed to hold onto the second position on the African ranking table.
The African log has Cameroon on top, followed by Ghana, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria in that order. Ghana and Cameroon remain Africa?s only presence within the top 20 dominated by European countries. According to FIFA, the line-up at the top could change dramatically over the next few weeks as the various continents engage in their preliminary World Cup qualifiers. New European Champions, Spain, are still leaders followed by Italy who overtook Germany at the second position.
