Immigration officials in Zimbabwe said Tuesday they had busted a human trafficking ring involving Bangladeshi citizens which was operating in the country. An Immigration Department spokesman said 28 Bangladeshi nationals had been arrested after they entered the country last month without visas. He said the group was brought into the country, aboard a Kenya Airways flight, by two suspected Bangladeshi human traffickers, who have also been arrested. “It is believed that more than 200 Bangladeshis have been trafficked through the country in the last two years,” said the spokesman. “Activities of the aforesaid (traffickers) have been perfected by the recruiting of government officials who are being paid handsomely,” said the official. Most of the Bangladeshi nationals have since been deported back home.
