A senior UN official has started his investigation into the killing of opposition demonstrators in Guinea reports BBC. UN Assistant Secretary General Haile Menkerios is in charge of investigating the massacre of September 28th, when Guinean soldiers opened fire on the protesters. 157 people died in the deadly massacre and over 1200 were injured. On Sunday, Mt. Menkerios met Captain Moussa Dadis Camara, Prime Minister Kabine Komara as well as other members of the opposition. UN investigator said Prime Minister Komara assured him that Guinea military government welcomed the probe and would co-operate fully. The arrival of the UN team to Conakry adds to the broad international pressure being put on the military government to step down.
