The African National Congress (ANC) has called for the results of gender tests carried out on runner Caster Semenya to be annulled. The Internaional Association of Athletics Federations (IAFF) ordered the tests after she won the 800m gold medal at the World Championships in August. The ANC insists that the IAAF violated its own procedure in handling the case. The test results are due shortly, but the BBC reports that leaked reports show Ms Semenya is both male and female. As a result, the ANC “calls for the nullfication of the results as they have been compromised (and) cannot be used for any decision-making.” Caster Semenya, broke the 800m record and won the world title at the Olympic Games, earlier this year.
